Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born July 8, 1989 in Paris. She relocated to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma realized she was going to become an actor and for several years, she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught performing and singing. As part of a school production and an Stagecoach production, Emma took her role as lead actress at 10, and acted. In 1999 casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions, she as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It was also the most successful film in 2001. The opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. The film received praise from critics, as were the performance of three actors. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in a Feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her part in the film.
